Wood Hole Summer Student Fellowship in the USA is an excellent opportunity for students to work on a project that will provide meaningful results in future endeavors. The Science Department of WHOI and the Woods Hole Coastal and Marine Science Center of the U.S. Geographical Survey will support you throughout your research in the USA under this international fellowship program. People, belonging to the groups, that are underrepresented in ocean sciences and engineering are preferred to apply for this fully funded internship.

This fully funded fellowship will provide the participants with an opportunity to join seminars and an ocean sampling cruise onboarding, focused on data collection and sampling techniques associated with the advanced oceanographic instruments and technology. Moreover, being a fellow of WHOI, you will have the opportunity to interact with graduate students for near-peer mentoring and learning ethics in a science workshop. 

You can get a practical experience on an international platform which will make you familiar with the different areas of oceanography through taking lecture series. Thus, broadening your vision to look into the intricacies of the field. Your experience of working with international professionals in the field will induce a passion for excellence in the field of oceanography. The summer student fellowships will provide you with benefits related to financial support including a traveling allowance and stipend facility.

The summer student program will provide you with the chance to select the project topic under the guidance of an advisor, associated with you. You will have to complete the project under the mentorship of the same advisor. The access to more than hundreds of research scientists and the modern facilities of the oceanographic institution will help you complete the research project with productive results.

Eligibility Criteria of the Wood Hole Summer Student Fellowship:

•Undergraduate students who completed their junior year at universities or colleges are eligible.
•You should not have completed your graduation.
•Students in science or engineering fields, such as biology, chemistry, geology, geophysics, mathematics, meteorology, physics, oceanography, engineering, and marine policy, are given preference, though other related fields may also be considered.
•Students, associated with the groups that are underrepresented in ocean sciences are encouraged to apply.
•Students must be interested in ocean sciences, marine policy, or oceanographic engineering.
