The University of Tokyo Research Internship Program (UTRIP) is a summer internship in Japan for international students who have their majors in subjects relevant to natural science. Students who will take part in the UTRIP summer internship program will be working on research-based projects so they will have a better understanding of all the research work conducted during graduate study. Students participating in this summer internship program will work under the mentorship of renowned researchers of the Graduate School of Science (GSS) at Tokyo who will assist them in polishing their research-related capabilities.

Eligibility Criteria of the Tokyo Summer Internship Program:

•Must have completed at least one full year of a bachelor’s degree program by the time of application.
•Must be currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program (or an equivalent year of an integrated
bachelor’s-master’s program) at a university outside Japan and plan to return to their home institution after the internship.
•Must be majoring in natural sciences or a related field.
•Should have a strong interest in pursuing a long-term career in science.
•Must be able to participate full-time for the entire six-week duration of the UTRIP program.
•Must provide proof of health insurance coverage effective during the internship period before arriving in Japan.
•If English is not the first language, must submit TOEFL or equivalent English proficiency test scores. •Continuous English-medium education for the past eight years exempts students from this requirement.

Requirements of the Tokyo Internship:

•Fully engage in the assigned research project.
•Attend all scheduled academic and social events throughout the program.
•Submit a written research report approved by the UTRIP supervisor within two weeks of completing the program.
•Deliver an oral presentation on the designated date.
•Complete all required procedures by the specified deadlines.
