Benefits of the USTC Scholarships in China:

USTC Fellowship for undergraduate programs are offered in 2 levels:

•Level A includes tuition waiver, medical insurance, monthly stipend of 2,500 RMB and
accommodation subsidy.
•Level B includes tuition fees waived off.

USTC Fellowship for master’s programs are offered in 2 levels:

•Level A includes tuition waiver, medical insurance, monthly stipend of 3,000 RMB and
accommodation subsidy.
•Level B includes tuition fees waived off and Subsidy for Teacher assistance or Research
assistance will be available.

USTC Fellowship for doctoral programs are offered in 3 levels:

•Level A includes tuition fees waiver, medical insurance and monthly stipend of up to 7,000 RMB.
•Level B includes tuition fees waiver, medical insurance, monthly stipend of 3,500 RMB and
accommodation subsidy.
•Level C includes tuition fees waiver, and subsidy for Teaching Assistance or Research
Assistance will be available.

Eligibility Criteria of the USTC Fellowship in China:

Applicants applying:

1. Should be citizens of a country other than China. (For all programs and levels)

2. Should have a valid passport. (For all programs and levels)

3. Be in good physical and mental health. (For all programs and levels)

4. For undergraduate must have a high school diploma, for master’s programs must have bachelor’s degree, for doctoral program must have master’s degree.

5. Should submit Pre-graduation Certificate to confirm that they will get their degrees before this scholarship. (For all programs and levels)

6. For undergraduate programs must be under 30 years old, for master’s programs should not be older than 35 years, for doctoral program level A should be under 35 years old, for level B should be under 45 years old.

7. For undergraduate should pass Chinese language course new HSK Level 5 or above, for master’s and doctoral programs should pass Chinese language course new HSK Level 4 or above.

8. Are not eligible for undergraduate scholarship if they have been awarded any other Chinese scholarship.

9. For doctoral programs should not be currently doing their PhD degree from any university in China.

10. Must provide proof of English language proficiency. (IELTS/MOI For all programs and levels)

11. Should meet the admission criteria for international students set by USTC. (For all programs and levels)

12. Are not allowed to participate in any other assignment during the scholarship period. (For all programs and levels)

13. Applicants must pay a USD 39 registration fee.

Documents Required for the USTC Scholarship in China:

For undergraduates:

1. Photocopy of passport.

2. Official photocopies of senior high school graduation certificates and transcripts.

3. Pre-graduation Certificate issued by senior high school.

4. Photocopies of Certificate of new HSK Level 5 and transcripts.

5. Filled Foreigner Physical Examination Form.

6. Recommendation letter from senior high school.

7. Guardian Statement for under 18 years old candidates.

8. Emigrants from mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan applying as international students should submit the Immigration certificate, Proof of cancellation of the original Chinese citizenship, Photocopy of the passport pages with customs stamps, and Proof of living abroad.

For Masters:

1. Photocopy of passport.

2. A study or research proposal (min 800 words).

3. CV.

4. 2 letters of recommendation including contact details.

5. Filled Foreigner Physical Examination Form.

6. Photocopy of HSK certificate.

7. English proficiency test certificate/MOI.

8. Photocopy of official degree certificate and academic transcripts for bachelor’s degree.

9. Pre-graduate Degree certificate.

10. Employment certificate.

For Doctoral programs:

1. Photocopy of passport (ordinary passport.

2. A study or research proposal (minimum 800 words).

3. CV.

4. 2 letters of recommendation with contact details.

5. Filled Foreigner Physical Examination Form.

6. Photocopy of HSK certificate.

7. Certificate of English proficiency of IELTS or TOEFL/MOI.

8. Photocopy of official degree certificate and academic transcripts for both bachelor’s degree and master’s Degree.

9. Pre-graduate Degree certificate.

10. Employment certificate.

For emigrants from mainland China, Macau, Taiwan, and Hong Kong:

1. Immigration certificate.

2. Proof of cancellation of Chinese citizenship.

3. Photocopy of the passport, showing entry and exit.

4. Proof of living abroad.

Scholarship Deadline:

• Registration deadline for 2025 has passed.

• Registration for 2026 is now open with a tentative deadline in February (PhD)/ March (Master’s) 2026!
