Master’s Scholarship

The JJWBGSP Scholarship, a premier Master’s in development studies program, invites students from developing countries to pursue graduate degrees at top universities across Japan, the United States, Europe, Africa, and Oceania. Sponsored by the World Bank and the Government of Japan, this World Bank scholarship empowers over 150 scholars annually to drive sustainable development through advanced education. Hosted by institutions like Keio University (Japan), Harvard University (USA), and University of Cape Town (South Africa), it positions scholars at a global development vanguard, fostering innovation and leadership.

The two-year master’s programs span fields like Public Policy, Sustainable Development, Economics, Environmental Studies, and Global Health. Students at Yokohama National University explore climate resilience, while those in Erasmus University Rotterdam tackle economic policy. Global Health scholars at Johns Hopkins University address pandemics, and Environmental Studies researchers at Australian National University develop conservation strategies. Scholars engage in cutting-edge research using advanced facilities, such as data analytics labs and policy simulation centers, under mentorship from global experts. With a 90% employability rate within six months, graduates excel as policy advisors, development consultants, or NGO leaders, impacting over 150 countries since the program’s inception.

The JJWBGSP Scholarship emphasizes global academic networking. Scholars collaborate with peers from diverse regions, presenting at forums like the World Bank Annual Meetings or UN Sustainable Development Summit. Partnerships with over 45 universities worldwide, including Sciences Po (France) and University of Tsukuba (Japan), facilitate cross-continental exchanges, enriching the cross-continental academic journey. The program’s alumni network, exceeding 6,000 professionals, supports career advancement through initiatives like the JJWBGSP Alumni Mentorship Program, fostering lifelong connections.

Studying in dynamic cities like Tokyo, Washington D.C., Paris, or Cape Town, scholars immerse themselves in diverse cultures. In Japan, they explore Kyoto’s temples or Tokyo’s Shibuya Crossing, while in Europe, Paris’ Louvre or Rotterdam’s Erasmus Bridge captivate. Africa’s vibrant markets and Oceania’s coastal landscapes enhance the multicultural academic immersion. Cultural events, such as Japan’s Cherry Blossom Festival, France’s Bastille Day, or South Africa’s Cape Town Jazz Festival, deepen global perspectives. Scholars engage with local development challenges, from urban planning in Nairobi to renewable energy in Canberra, aligning with the program’s mission to address global issues.
