The EWC Graduate Fellowship, a transformative study University of Hawai‘i initiative, invites global graduate students to pursue Master’s or Doctoral degrees at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa (UHM), a premier research institution founded in 1907 in Honolulu, Hawaii. Established in 1960 by the U.S. Congress, the East-West Center (EWC) hosts 300+ students annually from 40+ countries, offering programs in Social Sciences, Environmental Studies, Public Policy, Business, Education, Engineering, and Cultural Studies. As a global harmony catalyst, this US graduate scholarships program fosters a cross-cultural academic odyssey, equipping scholars to drive Asia-Pacific collaboration and global innovation.
The EWC Graduate Fellowship, supporting up to 24 months of study, engages 50–60 scholars annually in educational, cultural, and leadership programs. Scholars participate in interdisciplinary research, regional seminars, and community-building initiatives through EWC’s Education Program and Asia Pacific Leadership Program (APLP). Social Sciences researchers tackle global equity, while Environmental Studies scholars advance sustainability solutions. Public Policy candidates shape regional governance, and Business students innovate economic strategies, contributing to international development. With an 85% alumni engagement rate, EWC graduates excel as diplomats, academics, or NGO leaders, supported by a global network and partnerships with UN, Asian Development Bank, and Pacific Islands Forum.
The EWC Graduate Fellowship promotes global academic networking. Scholars connect with peers, UHM faculty, and regional experts from over 50 countries, engaging in leadership workshops, cultural exchanges, and service projects through the EWC Participants Association and International Graduate Student Conference. The program’s inclusive framework fosters diverse perspectives, aligning with U.S.-Asia-Pacific diplomacy goals. Campus events, like Honolulu Festival, Hawai‘i International Film Festival, or EWC’s Asia-Pacific Exchange, enrich the dynamic academic experience, with 18% of scholars launching community-impact projects post-fellowship.
Studying in Honolulu, scholars embark on a cross-cultural academic odyssey. They explore landmarks like Waikiki Beach, Pearl Harbor, or Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Park, immersing in America’s cultural vibrancy. Events like Aloha Festivals, Honolulu Marathon, or Merrie Monarch Festival deepen engagement. UHM’s Mānoa campus, with advanced research labs, libraries, and student hubs, supports a global academic immersion, enhanced by connectivity to Tokyo, Sydney, and Manila. Honolulu’s safe, vibrant environment (Niche Best Cities 2025) complements academic pursuits.
Join a global cohort to champion cross-cultural leadership, embrace Asia-Pacific diversity, and shape a transformative future with EWC Graduate Fellowship!
