Master’s Scholarship

The Erasmus Mundus QUARMEN Scholarship, a fully funded master’s in quantum science, empowers international students to specialize in Quantum Science and Technology through the Quantum Research Master Education Network (QUARMEN). This two-year quantum technology scholarship Europe, funded by the European Union, is delivered by a consortium of four prestigious universities: Sapienza University of Rome (Italy), Université Paris-Saclay (France), University of Porto (Portugal), and University of Toronto (Canada). Designed to fuel the second quantum revolution, QUARMEN equips scholars with expertise in quantum devices, information systems, and emerging technologies, preparing them for leadership in academia, industry, or innovation-driven startups.

The scholarship covers full tuition fees, a monthly stipend of €1,400 (~USD 1,450) for 24 months, round-trip airfare, visa expenses, health insurance, and installation costs, ensuring financial ease. The curriculum spans theoretical physics, quantum mechanics, condensed matter physics, mathematical physics, and biophysics, with English-taught courses for accessibility. Scholars follow a mandatory mobility track: Semester 1 at Sapienza University, Semester 2 and Semester 3 at chosen consortium universities, and Semester 4 for a master’s thesis at a partner institution or research center. This structure awards a double or triple master’s degree in physics, enhancing global recognition.

QUARMEN scholars access state-of-the-art laboratories, engaging in cutting-edge research on quantum computing, sensors, and cryptography. Internships with quantum technology firms and startups, such as those partnered with Paris-Saclay’s quantum hub, bridge academic theory and industry applications. The program fosters entrepreneurial skills, project management, and critical thinking, preparing graduates for roles in quantum engineering, research innovation, or tech entrepreneurship. Approximately 20 Erasmus Mundus scholarships and 4 Paris-Saclay scholarships (€10,000/year) are awarded annually, broadening access to technological platforms and expert faculty.

Studying across Rome, Paris, Porto, and Toronto, scholars immerse in multicultural environments, exploring landmarks like Colosseum, Eiffel Tower, Clérigos Tower, and CN Tower. Cultural events, such as Rome Film Fest or Toronto International Film Festival, enrich cross-cultural competence. With integration support and language courses, QUARMEN ensures a vibrant academic community. Graduates join a global alumni network, securing positions at institutions like CERN, Google Quantum AI, or quantum startups.
