The EMAI Scholarship, a premier study AI Europe initiative, empowers international students to pursue a two-year Joint Master in Artificial Intelligence (EMAI) across four leading universities: Pompeu Fabra University (UPF) in Barcelona, Spain; Sapienza University of Rome in Italy; Radboud University in Nijmegen, Netherlands; and University of Ljubljana in Slovenia. Co-funded by the European Union’s Erasmus+ Programme, this EMAI master’s program fosters global AI leadership, integrating machine learning, symbolic AI, data science, robotics, cybersecurity, and intelligent decision-making. As a global AI trailblazer, it drives cross-cultural innovation, offering a multicultural tech odyssey to shape future AI pioneers.
The EMAI master’s programs deliver a 120 ECTS, English-taught curriculum, blending theoretical foundations with practical applications. Semester 1 (30 ECTS) at UPF and Sapienza covers AI fundamentals, including neural networks, algorithms, and deep learning, leveraging UPF’s AI labs. Semester 2 (30 ECTS) at Radboud advances technical expertise in secure AI systems, utilizing cybersecurity hubs. Semester 3 (30 ECTS) offers specialization: Data Science in Slovenia, focusing on big data analytics; Robotics in Italy, exploring autonomous systems; Cybersecurity in the Netherlands, emphasizing threat detection; or Intelligent Decision-Making in Spain, tackling AI-driven strategies. Semester 4 (30 ECTS) includes a five-month research internship with partners like NVIDIA or UCL Centre for AI and a master’s thesis, earning a joint or double degree. With an 85% employability rate within six months, graduates excel in tech giants like Google, AI startups, or academia.
The EMAI Scholarship prioritizes global AI networking. The mobility scheme spans Spain, Italy, and Netherlands in Year 1, with Year 2 specialization in Slovenia or other partners, fostering diverse collaboration. The annual EMAI Spring Event features workshops and hackathons, enhancing skills in AI innovation. Partnerships with 12 industrial partners, including multinational firms, ensure real-world exposure, with 10% of graduates launching AI ventures, aligning with EU digital innovation goals. Scholars access advanced facilities, ensuring a career-focused AI education.
Studying in Barcelona, Rome, Nijmegen, and Ljubljana, scholars experience a multicultural tech odyssey. They explore Barcelona’s Sagrada Família, Rome’s Colosseum, Nijmegen’s Waal River, or Ljubljana’s Triple Bridge, engaging with Europe’s heritage. Events like Spain’s La Tomatina, Slovenia’s Ljubljana Festival, or Italy’s Carnevale enrich cultural engagement. Campuses with digital resources and student societies support a multicultural learning immersion, enhanced by connectivity to Madrid and Vienna.
