The AKFC International Youth Fellowship offers recent graduates and early-career professionals in Canada a chance to enhance their careers with a global perspective. The AKFC fellowship program combines a three-week intensive pre-departure training in Ottawa with an eight-month overseas placement. Fellows work with local organizations across Africa and Asia, implementing programs to improve the quality of life in communities through the support of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN).

Fellows are placed in one of three streams: International Development Management (IDM), International Microfinance and Microenterprise (IMM), or Young Professionals in Media (YPM). Placements are tailored to their skills and interests, providing hands-on experience in fields like health, education, microfinance, or media. The fully funded fellowship program’s collaborative nature equips participants with the tools and insights needed to make meaningful contributions to their host organizations and local communities.

The youth fellow program covers most expenses, including travel, accommodation, vaccinations, health insurance, and a stipend for living costs. Fellows gain invaluable experience, working in challenging yet rewarding environments while contributing to sustainable development. A one-time contribution of CAD $1,000 is required from selected participants to support program costs. This opportunity provides a strong foundation for personal and professional growth on a global scale.
