The INSAIT Summer Research Fellowship 2026, a premier fully funded research immersion program, invites global AI trailblazers to engage in a Bulgaria innovation nexus at the Institute for Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, and Technology (INSAIT), Sofia, Bulgaria. This 8–12-week transformative fellowship unites 10–15 undergraduates from 100+ countries to advance artificial intelligence and computer science research. Established in 2022 with partnerships from ETH Zurich and EPFL, INSAIT has empowered 50+ fellows across three editions, with a $3 million investment in fostering innovation, inspired by programs at MIT, Caltech, and ETH Zurich. Fellows collaborate in state-of-the-art labs, driving cross-global research synergy.

The Bulgaria innovation nexus immerses fellows in cutting-edge AI domains, including computer vision, robotics, foundational models, AI agents, natural language processing (NLP), algorithms & theory, quantum computing, safe and trustworthy AI, and AI for math. Fellows work in research groups under INSAIT faculty mentors, utilizing tools like PyTorch, TensorFlow, ROS, and Qiskit, with 92% reporting advanced research skills (INSAIT Report, 2024). The program features weekly AI seminars, coding intensives, paper-writing workshops, and industry panels with partners like Google, AWS, and DeepMind, with fellows co-authoring 10+ papers annually for conferences like NeurIPS, ICML, or CVPR. Orientation sessions introduce project scopes and Sofia’s research ecosystem.

Fellows engage in Global AI Dialogues, virtual research forums, and in-person networking events, connecting with peers across Europe, Asia, North America, and beyond. Bulgaria research odyssey includes Sofia tech meetups, Plovdiv innovation tours, Balkan AI summits, and cultural immersions, with 88% reporting enhanced global networks. Partnerships with VMware, International Science Partnerships Fund, and Sofia Tech Park provide access to global AI ecosystems. Fellows present findings at a closing research seminar, advancing cross-global research synergy goals. INSAIT’s Diversity in AI Initiative hosts 40+ events annually, promoting inclusivity.

Hosted at INSAIT, a world-class AI research hub in Sofia’s tech district, the program offers on-site research flexibility and access to 150,000+ digital resources, including arXiv, Google Scholar, and INSAIT’s AI datasets, to fuel research excellence. Since 2023, 40+ alumni have influenced global AI advancements, with 75% submitting to top venues like ICRA or ICML. Plans to expand ties with Stanford, Tsinghua, and African AI networks aim to grow 2,000+ collaborations. Conducted in English, with multicultural support, the program ensures accessibility. The INSAIT Research Framework aligns projects with UN SDGs.

Join global AI trailblazers to ignite fully funded research immersion program, forge global networks, and shape AI’s future with INSAIT Summer Research Fellowship 2026!
